Day 28: It Takes Time – Like everything else in life spiritual maturity takes time to grow. In today’s world, we are so obsessed with instant gratification, that we want things ASAP! We take short cuts that we think will get us there faster, short cuts that we end up regretting later.
Our timing is no match for God’s timing…there’s a saying that he’s never late, he’s always on time. So even when we feel like God is late answering our prayers, he’s right on time! I can testify to that!
There’s a number of reasons why it takes us so long to be transformed, the book lists them as:
- We are slow learners
- We have a lot to unlearn
- We are afraid to humbly face the truth about ourselves
- Growth is often painful and scary
- Habits take time to develop
Don’t be in a hurry, no matter what we’re going through or what we’re believing in God for, we must remember that God is working in our lives even when we don’t feel it. Everything has it’s own season, and our spiritual growth is no different. Keeping a notebook of the lessons learned on your spiritual journey is vital to both you and future generation. Having patience with your spiritual growth, be patient with God, all things are working for your good. One of the most important things on our spiritual journeys is to not get discouraged. Think about how far you’ve come instead of how far you have to go.
Question of the day: In what area of my spiritual growth do I need to be more patient?
I need to be more patient in waiting for answered prayers. I sometimes feel like I need to take matters into my own hands, over the years I’ve made some costly mistakes because I didn’t wait for God to show me certain things. Spending more time in prayer will help me overcome this.
Learning to live in the moment,
